Icarus Modding Guide

Modding Icarus dedicated servers enables custom gameplay features, but requires manual file management as there is no Steam Workshop support for servers yet.

Installation Path

Icarus loads mods from a specific mods directory inside the Paks folder. You will likely need to create this folder manually.

How to Install Mods

1. Stop your dedicated server.
2. Connect via FTP or use your file manager to navigate to: Icarus/Content/Paks/.
3. Create a new folder named mods (lowercase is critical).
4. Upload your .pak mod files into this new folder.
5. Start the server.

Client vs. Server Side

• Server-Side Only: Some logic mods only need to be on the server. Clients can join without them.
• Content Mods: If a mod adds items, textures, or assets, every player must install the same mod in their local Icarus/Content/Paks/mods/ folder to avoid crashes or invisible items.

Troubleshooting

If mods aren't loading, ensure the folder is named mods exactly, not Mods or ~mods (though ~mods is used in other UE games, Icarus specifically looks for mods in some versions, but mods is the standard recommendation).
