Subnautica 2 Save Management Guide

Protect your Subnautica 2 server with regular backups. This guide shows how to backup and restore save files.

Manual Backup Procedure

1. Stop Server: Shutdown cleanly
2. Navigate to Save Directory: Go to SaveGames folder
3. Copy Saves: Copy entire SaveGames folder to backup location
4. Label Backup: Include date: Subnautica2_Backup_2025-01-16.zip
5. Restart Server: Start server after backup completes

Restoring Saves

1. Stop Server: Ensure server is offline
2. Backup Current: Copy existing SaveGames to temp location
3. Extract Backup: Unzip desired backup
4. Replace Saves: Copy backup files to SaveGames directory
5. Start Server: Launch server with restored saves

Backup Frequency

Recommended schedules:

• Active Server: Every 4-6 hours
• Less Active: Every 12-24 hours
• Before Updates: Always backup before major updates
