V Rising: Game Mode Types (PvP/PvE)
The core experience of **V Rising** changes drastically depending on the **Game Mode**. This setting dictates whether players can attack each other, raid castles, or are forced to cooperate against the environment.
PvP (Player vs Player)
Vampires can attack each other anywhere. Castle raiding is enabled during specific "Raid Windows." Full loot drop on death is common.
PvE (Player vs Environment)
Players cannot damage each other or castles. Perfect for cooperative boss hunting and building massive aesthetic castles without fear.
Duo PvP
A variation of PvP where Clan Size is limited to 2 (or 3/4). This prevents massive "Zerg" clans from dominating solitary players.
Configuring the Game Type
This is controlled by the GameModeType variable and the ClanSize variable.
Step 1: Set the Mode
In your **Advanced Server Settings** (or ServerGameSettings.json), find **GameModeType** and set it to:
PvP- Enables combat.PvE- Disables combat.
Note: In older versions, this was a number (0=PvE, 1=PvP). In 1.0, it is often a string. Check your specific panel version.
Step 2: Limit Clan Size (For Duo/Squads)
To enforce a Duo server:
- Find the setting **ClanSize**.
- Set it to
2. - Restart the server. Existing clans larger than 2 will not be broken, but they cannot add new members.
Advanced PvP Settings
If you choose PvP, you should also configure:
- CanLootEnemyContainers: true/false (Can enemies steal from your chests?)
- CastleDamageMode: Always, Never, or TimeRestricted (Determines raid windows).
- PlayerInteractionSettings: Controls friendly fire within clans.
Pro Tip: Most successful servers run on a "Raid Window" schedule (e.g., 6 PM to 10 PM local time). This allows players to sleep and work without losing their base offline.
