Vein Server Configuration Guide

Vein dedicated servers are primarily configured using Game.ini and Engine.ini files found in the server's saved configuration directory.

Configuration Files Location

Windows: Vein/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/
Linux: Vein/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/

Game.ini Settings

This file controls gameplay mechanics. Ensure you add the correct section header [/Script/Vein.VeinGameMode] or similar if required, though many settings work under [ServerSettings] or specific headers.

Zombie AI & Spawning

Adjust the difficulty by tweaking zombie stats:

SettingDefaultDescription
vein.Zombies.Health1.0Multiplier for zombie health.
vein.Zombies.DamageMultiplier1.0Multiplier for damage dealt by zombies.
vein.Zombies.SpeedMultiplier1.0Multiplier for zombie movement speed.
vein.Zombies.HearingMultiplier1.0How far zombies can hear players.
vein.Zombies.SightMultiplier1.0How far zombies can see players.
vein.AISpawner.SpawnCapMultiplier1.0Global multiplier for AI spawn limits. Increase for more chaos.
vein.AISpawner.HordeModeTrueEnable or disable periodic zombie hordes.

Loot & World

Control resource scarcity and respawn timers:

  • vein.Scarcity.Difficulty: 0 (Abundant) to 4 (Scarce).
  • vein.ContainersRespawn.Interval: Time in seconds for loot to respawn in containers.
  • vein.ContainersRespawn.Enabled: Set to True to allow loot respawning.
  • DayLength: Duration of a full in-game day in minutes.

Engine.ini Settings

Used for lower-level engine configurations, but sometimes stores admin-set gameplay variables if changed via the in-game console.
