Allowing Multiple Versions (ViaVersion)

Want players on 1.20 to join your 1.21 server? Or vice versa?

The Suite

  • ViaVersion: Allows newer clients to join an older server.
  • ViaBackwards: Allows older clients to join a newer server.
  • ViaRewind: Basic support for VERY old versions (1.7/1.8).

Installation

Simply drop the JARs into your /plugins/ folder. No complex config required for basic functionality.

Note on Gameplay

If you use ViaBackwards (e.g., 1.21 server, 1.20 client), players won't be able to see or use new blocks/items (they will look like placeholder blocks).
