Install the Enshrouded Dedicated Server Tool and Handle "No Subscription"
Older Enshrouded setup guides often jump straight to SteamCMD, but Keen's official install article still starts somewhere simpler: if you own the game, the dedicated server is unlocked in the Steam library under Tools. That alone resolves a lot of self-hosting confusion.
Current Official Install Path
- Open Steam Library and enable the Tools filter.
- Find the Enshrouded dedicated server tool.
- Install it on Windows.
- Browse to the installed files and run the
.exedirectly. - Launch it once so
enshrouded_server.jsonis generated.
Official caveat: Keen specifically recommends launching the dedicated-server .exe from the install folder instead of pressing Steam's generic Launch button. The same article also states that only Windows is officially supported at this stage.
Why Admins Hit "No subscription"

When to Stop Chasing Install and Move On
- The tool is installed and the server process starts normally.

At that point, your problem is no longer installation. Use Startup Logs and File Locations for boot checks or Server Browser and Favorites for discovery issues.
