Necesse 1.0 Island to Infinite World Migration for Dedicated Server

Necesse 1.0 Island to Infinite World Migration for Dedicated Server

The release of Necesse 1.0 in 2026 brought a fundamental change to the game's world logic: the transition from isolated islands to a seamless, infinite world. For dedicated server administrators, this means that old save files using the "Island Hub" model are no longer natively compatible. This guide covers how to migrate your legacy colony to the new infinite world system.

๐ŸŒŒ Seamless World Logic

In 1.0, you can walk or sail across the entire world without loading screens. This requires a new chunk-based coordinate system for all entities.

๐Ÿ˜๏ธ Settlement Porting

While the map logic has changed, your buildings and NPCs can be "pasted" into a new 1.0 world using the server's internal migration tool.

Manual Migration Steps

1. Create a 1.0 Target World

Because the terrain generation is completely different, you cannot simply "rename" an old save. Start your Necesse dedicated server with a new world name to generate the fresh 1.0 directory structure.

2. The "Legacy Import" Command

Necesse 1.0 includes a specific admin command to pull data from a 0.24.x save. Log in as an admin and run:

/importlegacy [OLD_WORLD_NAME] [NEW_COORDINATES]
  • This will attempt to find your old starting island and spawn it at the designated coordinates in the infinite world.
  • Warning: The edges of the imported island will be "sharp" where they meet the new procedural terrain. We recommend using the Brush Tool to smooth the borders.

3. Merchant & NPC Sync

In 1.0, merchants have new quest lines. After importing your settlement, some NPCs may need to be "re-hired" or assigned to new workstations to recognize the infinite world's resource tiers.

Note: Multi-island setups from the legacy version are the hardest to migrate. We recommend only importing your "Primary Hub" and using the new infinite world generation to find fresh resources for your secondary outposts.

Server Performance in 1.0

The infinite world system is more CPU intensive but uses less RAM than the old island-loading logic. If you experience stutter during world travel, move your server to an NVMe SSD to handle the faster chunk-streaming requirements of the seamless map.
