There is no single best Pal for every save. The strongest team is the one that solves your current problem: movement, mining, breeding, tower damage, or base labor. Ranking Pals by role works better than chasing a universal tier list.
The Roles That Matter Most

- Add one or two combat Pals that cover the boss or biome you are targeting next.
- Keep at least one utility slot for gathering, gliding, or a base task you handle often.
- Replace favorites only when a new Pal solves a clear weakness. Constantly swapping teams slows progression.
Tier Lists Miss These Real Problems
- A top combat Pal is less useful if your server still lacks ore, medicine, and transport coverage.
- Huge late-game mounts can be awkward indoors or in cramped boss arenas.
- Work suitability matters more than combat stats when your group is trying to stabilize a large base.
Verified 2026 Detail
Official server-side settings show that hunger drain, stamina drain, work speed, and damage output are all mutable. A Pal that feels elite on a slow, survival-heavy server may be overkill on a high-rate server where mobility and labor coverage produce more value than raw combat ceiling.

The official Palworld server configuration reference makes it clear that work speed, spawn rates, damage values, and death penalties are all adjustable. That matters when people compare "best" Pals, because the strongest team on one server rule set may be merely convenient on another.
