Project Zomboid: In-Game Admin Menu & Management Guide

The Admin Menu in Project Zomboid is an expansive GUI that allows for real-time server moderation, technical troubleshooting, and world management. With the arrival of Build 42, the menu has been expanded to support the new animal systems, liquid dynamics, and enhanced crafting logistics.

1. Accessing the Menu

Once you are granted admin, a red "ADMIN" button appears on the left HUD. Clicking this opens the master control panel.

2. Safehouse Control

Manage player claims. You can force-add players to safehouses, remove "inactive" claims, or bypass base protections for inspections.

3. Build 42: Fauna Control

Monitor the new animal populations. Use the admin tools to spawn livestock, reset wild game tracking, or fix glitched animal logic.

Core Admin Panel Modules

The "Database" Tab: Moderation & Logs

This is where you manage the server's long-term health.

  • Player Tickets: View and respond to " /ticket" requests from players who are stuck or reporting griefers.
  • Ban List: Manage SteamID and IP bans. In Build 42, you can also see "Shadow Ban" options for disruptive players.
  • WhiteList: If your server is private, you can add usernames here to allow them through the password wall.

Item List & Build 42 Items

The Searchable Items List has been updated. You can now spawn:

  • Primitive Materials: Raw clay, bellows, crucibles, and sand for the new blacksmithing system.
  • Livestock: Directly spawn Cows, Sheep, or Chickens if a player's farm is wiped by a bug.
  • Liquids: Use the admin brush to fill containers with pure water, gasoline, or the new industrial chemicals.

Advanced Management: Safehouses & Factions

Feature Admin capability Best Practice
SafehousesCan view all claims, expiry dates, and trespassers.Wipe inactive safehouses (no login for 14 days) to prevent map clutter.
FactionsCan force-disband or rename player tribes.Intervene in Faction name disputes to prevent toxicity.
TeleportationMove to any player or coordinate instantly.Always use "Invisibility" before teleporting to a player to observe them undetected.

Managing the Server Console & Logs

Beyond the GUI, real admins must understand the **Logs**. These are located at `Zomboid/Logs/` on the server:

  • Chat.log: Every word spoken in global or local chat. Search this for slurs or rule-breaking.
  • Admin.log: Records every action YOU take. Essential for "Admin Transparency" to prove you aren't cheating for a specific faction.
  • PVP.log: Tracks who hit who, with what weapon, and where. Critical for settling "He started it!" disputes.

Pro Tip: Zombie Despawner. If your server is lagging due to 5,000 zombies in Louisville, use the "See Sandbox Options" to increase the **Zombie Despawn** rate or manually clear a chunk using the **Brush Tool**. This is 100% safer than a full server restart.

Rule the apocalypse with zero latency. Host your Project Zomboid server with Supercraft and utilize our easy-to-use web panel to manage all your admin accounts and backups in one place.
