Muldraugh, Kentucky: The Highway Town
Muldraugh is the quintessential Project Zomboid experience. Centered around a massive, dangerous 4-lane highway ("The Dixie Highway"), it offers high rewards for those brave enough to loot the main strip.
Difficulty: Medium
The highway is a "Zombie Magnet". The residential areas are quieter, but navigating between them is lethal.
Loot Density: High
Excellent industrial loot (warehouses) and a decent police station. Food is abundant along the strip.
Base Potential: High
Contains some of the best fortified locations in the game, including the Large Warehouse and the Gated Community.
Key Loot Locations
- The Police Station (10636x10411): Located centrally. Contains an armory with shotguns, 9mm pistols, and ammo.
Tip: You need a sledgehammer or key to access the armory easily. - Video Hit (10677x10255): Critical for early game. Loot "Skill VHS" tapes here to level up Carpentry (Woodcraft) and Cooking (Cooking Show) instantly.
- Cortman Medical (10883x10027): The only dedicated medical building. Essential for antibiotics and suture needles.
- The Mass Genfac Warehouse (10617x9313): The holy grail of tools. You will find Sledgehammers, Axes, and Generator Manuals here.
Best Base Locations
1. The Large Warehouse (North)
Located at the very north end of town. It has roof access (perfect for rain collectors/farming), massive storage crates, and only big garage doors to defend. It is often considered one of the best bases in the entire game.
2. The Isolated House (Southeast)
Known as the "Rusty Rifle" area. There is a house completely surrounded by tall fences deep in the woods. It is nearly invisible to zombies but far from loot.
3. The Gated Community (Southwest)
A neighborhood of rich houses surrounded by high brick walls. Warning: It is a maze, and if zombies get inside the walls, it becomes a death trap.
Survival Strategy: Do not fight on the highway. Lure zombies into the trees or side streets to kill them. The highway population respawns quickly and migrates from other cells.
