Satisfactory: Auto Pause & 24/7 Production
By default, a Satisfactory dedicated server is configured to **Auto Pause** whenever the last player disconnects. While this is helpful for saving server resources and preventing unplanned disasters, many Pioneers prefer to keep the factory humming 24/7 to return to containers full of Turbofuel, Aluminum Casing, and Space Elevator parts.
1. Resource Accumulation
Disabling Auto Pause allows your production lines to continue running. This is vital for items with long crafting times, like Heavy Modular Frames or Radio Control Units.
2. Power Considerations
If your power grid is unstable, your factory might "blow a fuse" while you are offline. Without a player to reset the circuit breaker, your entire industrial complex will remain dead until you return.
3. The Stats Impact
Leaving the server unpaused will significantly increase the Total Time Played stat on your save file. If you care about "efficient" speedruns, keep it paused!
How to Configure Auto Pause
You can change this setting in real-time through the in-game UI:
- Launch Satisfactory and go to the Server Manager on the main menu.
- Select your server and navigate to the Server Settings tab.
- Look for the Pause the game when no players are connected checkbox.
- Checked (Default): The world stops when everyone leaves.
- Unchecked: The factory runs forever.
- Click Apply. You do not need to restart the server for this to take effect.
Comparison: Paused vs. Unpaused
| Feature | Paused (Safe) | Unpaused (Productive) |
|---|---|---|
| Resources | Stocks are frozen. | Stocks replenish based on throughput. |
| Hilda/Hard Drives | Research stops. | Research continues (M.A.M. keeps working). |
| Power Grid | Total safety. | Risk of grid failure if consumption fluctuates. |
| Creatures | Biter respawns are paused. | Spawners may reset over time. |
Pro Tip: Before leaving your server unpaused, ensure you have a "Sink" attached to your storage containers. If a belt clogs because a container is full, it can back up your entire factory and lead to a total power failure if your generators depend on that specific item chain.
Keep the iron moving around the clock. Host your Satisfactory server with Supercraft and enjoy high-speed dedicated CPUs that can handle massive unpaused mega-factories without breaking a sweat.
