Restore Backup

Disaster strikes - a griefer destroyed your factory, save files became corrupted, or accidental deletions occurred. Don't panic! This guide will help you restore your Satisfactory world from backups and get your factory running again.

⚠️ Emergency Alert: Stop your server immediately before proceeding with any restore operations to prevent further damage to corrupted saves.

Common Recovery Scenarios

  • Griefer Attacks: Unauthorized players destroying buildings and machines
  • Save Corruption: Game crashes, power outages, or corrupted autosaves
  • Accidental Deletions: Mistakenly removing important structures
  • Update Issues: Game updates breaking save compatibility
  • Mod Conflicts: Problematic mods causing world corruption

Quick Recovery Methods

Method 1: Built-in Save Manager (Recommended)

  1. Open your server's Server Manager
  2. Click Manage Saves
  3. Click Load Save and select the backup you want to restore
  4. Click Load Game to complete the restoration

🛡️ Prevention First

Before disaster strikes, configure automatic backups with our Configure Backups guide. Prevention is always better than recovery!

Method 2: Manual File Restore

  1. Stop the Server: Ensure all processes are terminated
  2. Open File Manager: Navigate to the save directory
  3. Locate Saves: Go to /.config/Epic/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames/server/

Advanced Recovery Techniques

Partial Save Recovery

If your latest save has minor corruption but mostly intact factory:

  • Use Satisfactory Calculator to analyze and potentially repair save files
  • Extract blueprints from corrupted saves for use in new world
  • Copy specific player progress or research data if possible

External Backup Restoration

If you have external backups (FTP, cloud storage, or downloads):

  1. Download your backup file to local computer
  2. Verify file integrity using a save editor
  3. Upload to server via File Manager or FTP
  4. Place in correct save directory and rename to autosave_0.sav
  5. Restart server to load the restored save
💾 Pro Tip: Always test restored saves in singleplayer mode first before uploading to your server to ensure they load correctly.

Preventing Future Disasters

Essential Security Measures

  • Password Protection: Always set strong server passwords
