The Forest Save Files & Backups
Long-running Forest worlds die more often from bad restore decisions than from outright corruption. Keep labeled backups, take one before big rule changes, and do not overwrite the broken state until you know what happened.
Safe routine: take one backup before maintenance, one after a clean session, and keep at least one labeled rollback point.
| When to Back Up | Why |
|---|---|
| Before config changes | Lets you undo bad experiments quickly |
| Before adding new regular players | Protects the pre-expansion world state |
| Before cleanup or moderation actions | Gives you a recovery point if something goes too far |
Need better world safety? Run The Forest on Supercraft and keep backups and file access in one place.
