How to Share an Unturned Server Without Port Forwarding

If you host from home or run a private server without a convenient public IP, the cleanest option is usually an Unturned Server Code. Friends can join with the code from the direct-connect menu, which is why many modern server ads share a 17-digit code instead of an IP address.

What a Server Code Is

A Server Code is a randomly generated 17-digit number assigned to your server. It lets players join through Steam Datagram Relay without requiring you to expose the server by direct IP.

When Server Codes Are Better Than Direct IP

Important Limitations

  • The pre-join info screen is weaker when joining by code alone.
  • Your server code changes after a restart unless you link the server to a Game Server Login Token.
  • If you want classic direct IP joins, browser queries, or domain names, direct networking still matters.

How to Keep the Code Stable

  1. Create a GSLT for Unturned using app ID 304930.
  2. Set the token in your server configuration.
  3. Restart the server and copy the updated code from the console or in-game button.
  4. Share both the server name and the code when advertising so players know what they are joining.

Best practice: If you do not have a stable public IP, advertise the server code, the map name, whether the server is vanilla or modded, and a Discord link for updated connection details after restarts.
