V Rising: Difficulty & Mode Presets
Instead of editing 100 individual variables, V Rising allows you to apply a Preset configuration. This automatically configures loot rules, damage multipliers, and raid times instantly.
1. Standard PvE
The default "Standard PvE" preset has regular health and damage values and disables castle PvP damage entirely.
2. Duo PvP
The "Duo PvP" preset sets the maximum Clan Size to 2 and enables castle raiding during specific hours.
3. Hardcore
Presets like "Standard PvP Hard" increase boss difficulty and often increase gear loss upon death.
Commonly Used Presets
These files are located in your server's StreamingAssets/GameSettingPresets/ folder. You must use the exact filename (usually without the .json extension) in your configuration.
StandardPvE: The baseline cooperative experience.StandardPvP: Enables PvP combat and Castle Raiding.PvPEasy: Reduced costs and easier boss mechanics.PvPHard: Brutal combat settings for experienced players.DuoPvP: Limits clans to 2 players for balanced small-scale PvP.
How to Apply a Preset
- Stop the server before making changes.
- Navigate to the File Manager and open
ServerHostSettings.json. - Locate the line:
"GameSettingsPreset": "". - Enter the preset name inside the quotes (e.g.,
"GameSettingsPreset": "StandardPvP"). - Note: If you have manually overridden settings in
ServerGameSettings.json, those overrides will take priority over the preset defaults. - Save the file and Restart the server.
Checking Available Presets
If you aren't sure what presets exist on your specific server version (Gloomyrot or 1.0 Release):
- Navigate to
VRisingServer_Data/StreamingAssets/GameSettingPresets/. - Any
.jsonfile found in this directory is a valid preset name you can use.
In the 1.0 Release, the distinction between "GameSettings" (rules) and "GameDifficulty" (stats) has been simplified. We recommend using the main GameSettingsPreset for most needs.
