V Rising: Difficulty & Mode Presets
Instead of editing 100 individual variables, V Rising allows you to apply a "Preset" configuration. This configures loot rules, damage multipliers, and raid times instantly.
1. Standard PvE
The default "Standard PvE" preset has regular health/damage and disables castle PvP damage entirely.
2. Duo PvP
The "Duo PvP" preset sets Clan Size to 2 and enables castle raiding during specific hours.
3. Hardcore
Presets like "Standard PvP Hard" increase boss difficulty and might increase gear loss on death.
List of Common Presets
These files live in your server's `StreamingAssets/GameSettingPresets/` folder. You must use the exact filename (usually without .json extension) in your config.
StandardPvE: The baseline experience.StandardPvP: Enables PvP combat and Castle Raiding.PvPEasy: Reduced costs, easier bosses.PvPHard: Brutal combat settings.DuoPvP: Limits clans to 2 players.
How to Apply a Preset
- Stop the Server.
- Navigate to **File Manager** -> `ServerHostSettings.json`.
- Find the line:
"GameSettingsPreset": "". - Enter the preset name inside the quotes.
Example:"GameSettingsPreset": "StandardPvP" - **Important:** If you have manually overridden settings in your `ServerGameSettings.json`, those specific manual overrides will usually take priority over the generic preset defaults.
- Save and Restart.
Checking Available Presets
If you aren't sure what presets exist on your version of the server (Gloomyrot / 1.0 Release):
- Go to `VRisingServer_Data/StreamingAssets/GameSettingPresets/`.
- Any `.json` file you see here is a valid preset name.
As of the 1.0 Release, the distinction between "GameSettings" (Rules) and "GameDifficulty" (Stats) has been merged or simplified in some server variations. We recommend sticking to the main GameSettingsPreset unless you are doing advanced tuning.
