Valheim: Uploading Your World
Moving a world from your PC (Local) to a Dedicated Server allows your friends to play 24/7 without you being online. It requires moving two specific files.
1. The Two Files
A world consists of a Name.db (Database - terrain, buildings) and Name.fwl (File World Link - seed/metadata). You need **BOTH**.
2. Cloud vs Local
If you use Steam Cloud, your saves are in a hidden specific userdata folder. If you move them to "Local" in-game, they appear in AppData.
3. Server Name
The server must be told exactly which world name to load. If the name doesn't match the file, it will generate a new empty world.
Step 1: Locate Your Local Files
Option A: Using "Move to Local" (Recommended)
- Open Valheim on your PC.
- Go to **Manage Saves**.
- Select your world and click **Move to Local**.
- Close the game.
- Press
Win + Rand type:%userprofile%\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\worlds_local. - You should see
MyWorld.dbandMyWorld.fwl.
Option B: Steam Cloud (Legacy)
- Path:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[YOUR_STEAM_ID]\892970\remote\worlds\. - Note: We strongly recommend moving to Local first to ensure you have the latest version.
Step 2: Upload to Server
- Stop your Supercraft Server.
- Open **File Manager**.
- Navigate to:
/.config/unity3d/IronGate/Valheim/worlds_local/.
(Note: older servers might use just/worlds/, check both). - Upload both
MyWorld.dbandMyWorld.fwl.
Step 3: Activate the World
- Go to the **Startup** tab in your panel.
- Find the **World Name** variable.
- Change it to match your filename EXACTLY (case-sensitive, no extension).
Example: If file isVikings.db, enterVikings. - Save and Restart.
Common Error: If your world loads spread out terrain but NO BUILDINGS, it means the `.db` file failed to upload or is corrupt. Re-upload the `.db` file.
Share your saga. Host your Valheim server with Supercraft and easily swap between worlds using our dedicated game panel.
