Known Launch Bugs & Fixes (Jan 2026)
As expected with any major Early Access launch, Hytale is experiencing several technical issues. This page aggregates the most common bugs reported by the community and official workarounds.
🔥 ID: AUTH-503 (Active)
Issue: "Authentication Servers Unreachable" error when logging in.
Status: Developers are scaling servers. Keep retrying every 5-10 minutes.
Launcher & Installation Issues
Launcher Stuck on "Verifying Assets"
Symptoms: The progress bar halts at 99% or hangs indefinitely.
Fix:
- Close the Hytale Launcher completely (check Task Manager).
- Navigate to
%AppData%/Hytale/cache. - Delete the folder named
temp_assets. - Restart Launcher to force a re-check.
"Java Runtime Not Found" Error
Symptoms: Clicking Play results in an immediate error popup.
Cause: The legacy engine requires Java 25, which may not have installed correctly with the launcher.
Fix: Download and install JDK 25 manually. Then point the launcher to the detailed Java path in Settings > Java Settings.
In-Game Critical Bugs
Memory Leak / Crash After 30 Minutes
Symptoms: FPS slowly degrades until the game freezes and closes.
Workaround: Restart the client every hour. The devs have identified a garbage collection issue in the C# client affecting NVIDIA cards specifically. A hotfix is expected Jan 15.
Missing Textures (Pink/Black Squares)
Symptoms: Certain blocks or items appear as pink and black checkerboards.
Fix: This usually means a corrupted download.
- Launcher > Settings > Repair Game Files.
- Allow the process to complete (approx 10 mins).
Multiplayer Connection Issues
"Handshake Failed"
Cause: Version mismatch between client and server.
Fix: Ensure both client and server are on Build 0.8.4-RELEASE. If you are a server admin, restart your server to pull the latest hotfix.
Rubber-banding / Lag
Status: Global server load is extremely high. While dedicated servers are stable, the master server heartbeat is lagging.
Fix: None currently. Using Direct Connect (IP) seems to be more stable than using the Server Browser.
