Necesse: Joining & Managing Multiplayer Connections

Necesse offers a incredibly smooth multiplayer experience, supporting both P2P (Peer-to-Peer) play and high-performance **Dedicated Servers**. This guide will help you navigate the various ways to connect to your friends' worlds and troubleshoot the most common connectivity hurdles.

1. The Live Lobby

Necesse features a global server browser. Use this for public community servers or to find your own world if you have set it to "Public" in the configuration.

2. Direct IP Connection

The most reliable method for private dedicated servers. You will need your server's **IP Address** and the communication **Port** (Default: 14159).

3. Steam Integration

If you are playing with Steam friends, you can often right-click their name in the Steam Overlay and select Join Game to bypass the menus entirely.

Method 1: Using the Server Browser

  1. Launch Necesse from your library.
  2. Select Multiplayer from the main menu.
  3. Click on Browse Servers.
  4. Filter by "Latency" or use the search bar to find your server's unique name.
  5. Double-click the entry and enter the password (if applicable).

Method 2: Connecting via Direct IP

This is the preferred method for servers hosted on the Supercraft Panel:

  1. Navigate to the Multiplayer screen and click Direct Connect.
  2. Enter the **IP Address** provided in your dashboard.
  3. Ensure the **Port** is set to 14159 (unless you have a custom port assigned).
  4. Click Connect. The game will attempt to authenticate your Steam ID with the server's whitelist.

Troubleshooting "Failed to Connect"

Error Message The Fix
Connection TimeoutThe server is likely still starting or hibernating. Check the Supercraft Console for "Server Started."
Incompatible VersionYour local game version (e.g., v1.1) doesn't match the server. Update your game on Steam or restart the server to trigger an update.
Authentication FailedEnsure you are logged into the official Steam client. Necesse servers use Steam for identity verification.
Port Not OpenIf self-hosting, ensure 14159 UDP/TCP is port-forwarded. Supercraft handles this automatically.

Pro Tip: If your server is intended for a private group, use the `Direct Connect` method and keep the server's "Public" setting to false. This prevents your server from appearing in the global lobby, reducing the risk of random players trying to join.

Conquer the islands together with zero latency. Host your Necesse server with Supercraft and enjoy dedicated networking optimized for global player connections.
