Necesse Graphics Updates and Dedicated Servers
A graphics update can create two different reports: a player sees a client FPS change, or every player experiences server delay. They need different evidence. Client graphics settings normally affect rendering on that machine; they do not automatically change the dedicated server's simulation workload.
Separate the symptoms
| Symptom | First test |

| One player has low FPS | Compare that client's graphics settings, drivers, overlays, and local frame time. |
| Everyone pauses together | Check server CPU, memory, disk, logs, save activity, and recent build changes. |
| Join or reconnect fails | Check client/server build and UDP 14159 reachability. |
| World saves slowly | Measure save duration, disk latency, world size, and backup overlap. |
After an update
- Read the current Necesse announcement feed.
- Back up the world and record the previous build.
- Update client and server consistently.
- Test a fresh world and the established world separately.
- Join with one client, save, restart, and compare performance before opening the server to the full group.
Do not “fix” server lag by lowering every graphic
Lowering a player's view distance or effects may help that player's renderer, but it cannot repair a saturated server process, a corrupted save, or a network problem. Use server performance checks and the backup guide.
