Necesse Multiplayer Roles and Coordination
Necesse works better as a shared project when everyone knows what is being gathered, crafted, defended, and backed up. These roles are group conventions; they are not a claim that the game requires a fixed class system.
Useful co-op roles
| Role | Responsibilities |
|---|---|
| Settlement lead | Housing, layout, residents, storage access, and defense plan. |
| Quartermaster | Shared materials, food, healing, and a clearly marked reserve. |
| Explorer | Map routes, find resources, and report hazards or points of interest. |
| Combat lead | Coordinates encounter preparation and retreat plans. |
| Server operator | Backups, updates, permissions, join tests, and incident notes. |
Shared-world routine
- At the start of a session, say what the group is trying to unlock.
- Before a long expedition, store a recoverable reserve and tell the operator.
- Before a boss, confirm everyone has a route home and the current save is backed up.
- After the session, leave the world in a known state and report any missing items or errors.
Prevent avoidable conflicts
- Do not consume a unique or progression item without telling the group.
- Keep personal storage separate from communal storage.
- Use a sign or chat message for a work-in-progress build.
- Agree whether the group accepts PvP, stealing, or world changes before inviting strangers.
- Give only the necessary server permissions to helpers.
Dedicated-server handoff
Use the official multiplayer reference and server setup guide. Test the endpoint with one player, save a harmless change, restart, and verify it before making the dedicated server the group's only copy.
