How to Join a Necesse Server
Necesse can be played through an in-game hosted world or a dedicated server. The official multiplayer reference lists UDP 14159 as the default dedicated-server port. Use the address and port supplied by the current host; do not assume that a public browser listing and a private direct connection use the same path.
Before you connect
- Update the client to the same build as the server.
- Ask the operator for the exact server name, address, port, password, and visibility rule.
- If the server was just updated or restarted, wait for the process to finish loading.
- For a self-hosted instance, test from outside the host network.
Use the server browser
- Launch Necesse and open the multiplayer screen.
- Refresh or search for the server's exact name.
- Confirm the displayed region/ping and build, if shown.
- Enter the password if required.
- Record the exact error text if the join fails.
A server that is not listed may still be reachable by direct address, but first check whether the operator intended it to be public.
Use a direct address
- Open the game's direct-connect option if it is available in the current build.
- Enter the host address and the game port supplied by the operator.
- Use UDP
14159only when the server is using the default port. - Connect and test a harmless world action before inviting more players.
Do not add a query-port suffix from another game. Provider panels may map an external port to a different internal instance; use the endpoint shown by that panel.
Failure checklist
| Symptom | First check |
|---|---|
| Not in the browser | Visibility, server process, build, listing state, and operator's exact name. |
| Timeout | UDP 14159 or the provider's mapped game port, firewall, NAT, and whether the process is ready. |
| Version mismatch | Client and server update channel/build. |
| Password rejected | Exact password, keyboard layout, and whether the server reloaded its config. |
| Only one player fails | That player's route, VPN/firewall, client files, and account/session state. |
