Necesse: Multiplayer Permissions & Teams

One of the most common issues on new servers is: "Why can't my friend open my chests?" or "Why did my turret shoot my friend?" The answer usually lies in the **Team System**.

1. The Team

Players must be on the same Team to share permissions, XP, and map visibility. By default, everyone is solo.

2. Permissions

You can lock doors, chests, and settlements to be "Team Only", "Private", or "Public".

3. PvP

PvP is usually team-based. Friendly fire is disabled for teammates but enabled against outsiders.

Essential Team Commands

Type these in the chat window:

  • /team list - Shows all current teams.
  • /team create "TeamName" - Starts a new squad.
  • /team invite "PlayerName" - Invites a friend to your team.
  • /team join "TeamName" - Accepts an invite.
  • /team leave - Returns you to solo play.

Locking Chests & Doors

To prevent random players from looting your base:

  1. Hover your mouse over a Chest or Door.
  2. Look for the **Lock Icon** in the top right of its UI (or hold the Configure key).
  3. Cycle through modes:
    • Public: Anyone can open.
    • Team: Only team members can open.
    • Private: Only YOU can open.

Settlement Permissions

If you own a Settlement Flag:

  • Open the **Settlement Flag** menu.
  • Go to **Privacy/Permissions**.
  • Uncheck "Allow Public Building" to stop strangers from griefing your layout.
  • Ensure "Allow Team Building" is checked so your friends can help expand.

PvP Toggle

As an admin, you can force PvP settings globally:

  • /pvp force [true/false] - Forces everyone to flagship PvP status.
  • Individual players can type /pvp to toggle their own status if the server allows it.
