Palworld: Downloading Your Save
Whether you are creating a manual backup before a big update or moving your community server to a single-player world, accessing the raw save files is essential.
1. The Save Structure
A Palworld save consists of a main Level.sav (world data) and a Players/ folder containing individual character data (.sav files).
2. The GUID Folder
Saves are stored inside a folder named with a unique 32-character Hex ID (e.g., 0E87F...). This is your "DedicatedServerName".
3. Encryption
Official server saves are not directly compatible with Single Player without conversion tools due to different Player ID formats (GUID vs SteamID).
Step-by-Step Download Guide
- **Stop the Server.** Downloading files while the game is saving can corrupt the `Level.sav`.
- Open the **File Manager** (or connect via SFTP/FTP).
- Navigate to:
/Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/. - You will see a folder with a random name like
2A4B3C.... - Right-click this folder and select **Compress/Zip** (this ensures you get all files in one go).
- Download the resulting
backup.zipto your computer.
How to Use in Single Player
If you want to play this save locally:
- Press
Windows Key + Rand type%localappdata%\Pal\Saved\SaveGames\. - Open your SteamID folder.
- Paste the folder you downloaded from the server here.
- Launch Palworld -> Start Game. You should see the new world in the list.
- Note: You will likely lose your character inventory/levels because the game sees you as a "new player" (Host) instead of the client you were on the server. You may need to use a Save Fix Tool to transfer your character data.
Pro Tip: We recommend taking a backup before every major game update (like v0.3.x). Supercraft servers perform automated daily backups, but a manual off-site backup is always safer.
