Satisfactory Update 1.2: Fluids & Vehicles
Following the massive success of the 1.0 release, Coffee Stain Studios has rolled out Update 1.2 in early 2026. This technical-focused update addresses long-standing player requests regarding fluid logistics and the viability of long-range vehicle transport.
🚰 Extraction Breakthrough
The most impactful change is the ability for Water Extractors and Oil Extractors to now operate in Shallow Water. You are no longer restricted to deep ocean shorelines; if a pioneer can stand in it, an extractor can likely be "partially submerged" to function.
New Logistics Tools
1. Fluid Truck Stations
Until now, transporting fluids required either massive pipelines or complex "Packaging/Unpackaging" loops. Update 1.2 introduces the Fluid Truck Station, which allows vehicles to load and unload raw liquids directly without containers.
2. Tanker Trucks
A specialized vehicle variant of the Truck, the Tanker Truck, has a massive internal reservoir for liquids. It cannot carry items but can hold enough Heavy Oil Residue or Fuel to keep a remote power plant running for hours on a single delivery.
Quality of Life: Vehicle Route Overhaul
The vehicle pathing system has received a significant backend update.
- Pathing Resilience: Vehicles will now "re-calculate" much faster if bumped or obstructed, drastically reducing the number of stuck trucks in complex factories.
- Route Visualizer: You can now see the entire saved route of a vehicle as a solid line on the hologram system when editing paths.
- Ghost Mode: If a vehicle is consistently failing a jump or tight corner, it will temporarily enter a "high-traction ghost mode" to return to its node rather than flying off into the void.
New Game Modes: Creative & Hardcore
Update 1.2 also introduces experimental game modes for those who have finished the main story:
- Efficiency Mode (Creative): Unlimited resources and flying enabled for building massive mega-bases without the grind.
- FICSIT Scarcity (Hardcore): Power consumption is doubled, and resource nodes have finite capacity. Once a node is depleted, you must find another.
⚠️ Fluid Physics Update
Ensure your head-lift calculations are still correct. The update tweaked how internal buffers in piping networks handle priority, which may cause starvation in very old factory designs.
