With the release of the Frozen Peaks expansion (Souls of the Frozen Frontier) in late 2024, Enshrouded servers have seen a massive surge in 16-32 player communities. However, the default difficulty does not account for the sheer firepower of multiple Flameborn. This guide covers the 2026 meta for **Dynamic Difficulty Scaling**.

🏔️ The Frozen Peaks Challenge

  • HP Scaling: Bosses in the Frozen Peaks have massive health pools that scale exponentially per player.
  • Damage Tiers: Enemy damage now ignores a percentage of physical armor in high-difficulty tiers to maintain the "Enshrouded" threat level.
  • Group Size: While the engine supports 16, community-optimized servers now push toward 32 player slots.

Configuring Dynamic Scaling

As of the early 2026 patch, the enshrouded_server.json supports granular difficulty modifiers. You no longer need external mods to balance your 100+ hour community.

📉 HP Multipliers

For a 16-player server, use a base multiplier of 2.5x. This prevents bosses from being "one-shotted" by a coordinated volley of Explosive Arrows.

⚔️ Damage Offsets

Balancing AI for Large Groups

Hardware & Latency

  • CPU Threading: Difficulty scaling increases the number of damage calculations per tick. A high-frequency CPU (5GHz+) is mandatory for stable TPS on 16+ player servers.
  • Memory: More players equals more active voxel chunks. Allocate at least **16GB of RAM** for a scaled community server.

Does loot scale with difficulty?

Yes. In the 2026 builds, increasing enemyHealthMultiplier provides a passive lootRarityBonus. Harder fights yield more Legendary and "Frozen" tier drops.

Is this for small groups?

No. If you are playing with 1-4 people, keep these settings at 1.0. These modifiers are designed specifically to counteract the "Stagger-Lock" meta found in large public servers.
