Satisfactory 1.0: Dedicated Server Configuration Guide

The release of Satisfactory 1.0 brought a complete overhaul to the dedicated server system. It is now more stable, secure, and significantly easier to configure. This guide covers the essential settings, the new networking model, and how to manage your world in 2025.

What's New in 1.0?

  • Simplified Networking: No more complex port forwarding. Servers now primarily use a single port: 7777 (UDP/TCP).
  • TLS Encryption: All communication between the client and server is now encrypted via Transport Layer Security.
  • In-Game Server Manager: Most configuration can now be done directly within the Satisfactory game client without touching files.
  • IPv6 Support: Native support for both IPv4 and IPv6 simultaneously.

Network Configuration

If you are hosting behind a firewall or on a private network, ensure the following ports are open:

Port Protocol Purpose
7777 UDP/TCP Game Data & Query (Primary Port)
8888 TCP Reliable Messaging (introduced in v1.1)

Advanced Configuration (INI Files)

While the in-game manager handles most things, advanced users can still tweak settings in ServerSettings.ini and GameUserSettings.ini found in the /FactoryGame/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/ directory.

Essential INI Settings

  • Autosave Interval: Control how often the server saves progress (default is 5 minutes).
  • Network Quality: Can be set to 'Ultra' for high-bandwidth servers to reduce latency in massive factories.
  • Max Players: While the default is 4, you can increase this in the INI, though performance may vary.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I claim my server?

When you first launch a Satisfactory 1.0 server, it will be in an "Unclaimed" state. Open Satisfactory, go to Server Manager, add your server using the IP and port 7777, and then click Claim Server. You will be asked to set an Administrative Password.

Can I use my old Early Access saves?

Yes, but with caution. Major recipe changes in 1.0 mean that parts of your factory may stop working. We recommend downloading your save via the Manage Saves tab in the in-game manager, updating it locally, and then re-uploading.

Why is my server "Offline" in the manager?

Ensure port 7777 is open. If you are using Supercraft, ensure you have clicked "Start" in the panel. Version 1.0 also requires players to be logged into their Epic or Steam accounts for authentication.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter authentication errors, try restarting your local game client. Since 1.0 uses TLS, ensure your system clock is accurate, as significant time desync can cause SSL handshake failures.
