Satisfactory: How to Update Your Dedicated Server
When Coffee Stain Studios releases a patch or a major milestone like **Version 1.0**, your local game client (Steam or Epic) will update automatically. However, your dedicated server requires a manual trigger to download and apply the new files. If your versions do not match, you will encounter the dreaded **Incompatible Version** error when trying to connect.
1. Version Sync
Your local game and the server must be on the exact same build number. Even a minor "hotfix" update on Steam requires the server to be updated as well.
2. Stable vs. Experimental
Satisfactory offers two branches. Latest Stable is recommended for serious gameplay, while Experimental allows you to test upcoming features (at the risk of more crashes).
3. Data Safety
Updating the server binary does not delete your save world. However, big updates (like the move to 1.0) may alter map geometry, so always check your belts after a major patch!
How to Update via the Supercraft Panel
Updating your server is a one-click process on our platform:
- Navigate to your Supercraft Panel and Stop the server.
- Locate the Update Server tab on the left-hand sidebar.
- Select your desired branch in the dropdown menu (usually "Latest Stable").
- Click the Update Server & Restart button.
- The console will display the SteamCMD progress. Once it says "Success! App '1690800' fully installed," your server is ready.
Troubleshooting "Incompatible Version"
| Scenario | The Fix |
|---|---|
| You updated, but still can't join | Check if your local game is on a "Beta" branch in Steam. Your client and server must match branches. |
| Server fails to update | Ensure you have enough disk space and that the server is Stopped before clicking update. |
| World is glitchy after update | Coffee Stain may have changed building recipes or world nodes. Re-read the official Patch Notes for building height changes. |
Note: If you are moving from a very old version to 1.0, we highly recommend performing a Wipe and starting a fresh world to enjoy the new narrative triggers and optimized resource placement.
