Satisfactory: Uploading & Downloading Saves
One of the best features of **Satisfactory** is the ability to seamlessly move your world between Singleplayer and a Dedicated Server. Whether you want to upload your 500-hour factory to play with friends or download the server save to fix a bug in SCIM, this guide covers the process.
1. The Server Directory
On Linux servers (Supercraft), saves are located at: /.config/Epic/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames/server/.
2. The Local Directory
On your Windows PC, saves are at: %localappdata%\FactoryGame\Saved\SaveGames\[YourSteamID]\.
3. Session Names
The server tracks the "Session Name". Do not rename the .sav file drastically, or the server might create a new session instead of loading the old one.
Method 1: Using the In-Game Server Manager (Easiest)
Coffee Stain Studios built a transfer tool directly into the game menu.
- Open Satisfactory and click Server Manager.
- Select your server from the list.
- Go to the **Manage Saves** tab.
- To Upload: Click "Upload Save" -> Select your singleplayer world -> Click Upload.
- To Download: Select the save in the server list -> Click "Download Save".
Method 2: Manual FTP Transfer (Faster for Large Saves)
If your save file is 20MB+, the in-game uploader often times out. Use FTP instead.
- Open **FileZilla** or your Supercraft **File Manager**.
- Navigate to
/.config/Epic/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames/server/. - Upload: Drag your
.savfile from your PC into this folder. - Download: Drag the latest
autosave_0.savfrom the server to your PC. - Critical Step: After uploading manually, you must go to the Server Manager -> **Load Game** tab and select the new file to load it.
Troubleshooting "Offline" Status
Sometimes, after uploading a save, the server appears "Offline" in the manager even though it is running.
- Wait 5 Minutes: Large factories take time to deserialize (load into RAM). The server cannot reply to queries while it is loading the map.
- Check Logs: If it stays offline for 10+ minutes, check the console for "Crash" or "Out of Memory" errors. The save might be too big for your RAM plan.
Pro Tip: Always rename your save before uploading it (e.g., MyWorld_Dedicated.sav). This helps you distinguish it from the server's auto-generated autosave_0 files later.
