Fix Unturned Failed to Find Server Error

The "Failed to Find Server" error means the client cannot reach the server on the correct ports. This guide focuses on server discovery (browser + direct connect) and the most common network mistakes.

  • Use the correct IP:PORT format
  • Open/forward the game port and the query port
  • Disable browser filters and test direct connect
  • Confirm the server is online and on the same game version

Step 1: Confirm Server Address & Ports

Unturned uses two UDP ports: the game port and the query port. By default, the query port is the game port + 1.

Direct Connect: Always use IP:GAME_PORT. The server browser relies on the query port, so if it is blocked, the server may not appear even if direct connect works.

Step 2: Server-Side Network Checks (Owners)

  1. Make sure both UDP ports are open/forwarded on your router/firewall.
  2. Verify the Port setting in your server config matches what you are using.
  3. Restart the server after changing ports or firewall rules.

Step 3: Client-Side Discovery

  • Disable filters: Clear map/ping/mod filters in the server browser.
  • Use direct connect: Test with IP:PORT to bypass browser issues.
  • Steam server list: Add the server to Favorites in Steam if it does not show in-game.

Step 4: Version or Workshop Mismatch

If the server is visible but you still cannot connect:

  • Confirm the server is on the same Unturned version.
  • Ensure required Workshop mods are fully updated and downloaded.

Step 5: ISP or NAT Issues

  • Test from a different network or device to rule out local issues.
  • If the server is on the same LAN, connect using the local IP instead of the public IP.
  • If your ISP uses CGNAT, you may need a different hosting method or a relay/VPN solution.
