Stationeers Roadmap 2026: The Power Line Update, Sanitation & What Hosts Should Plan For

Stationeers’ 2026 roadmap: RocketWerkz’s themed update cadence, the Power Line and Sanitation updates, the multiplayer traffic work that came with them, and what dedicated-server admins should plan around.

TL;DR for hosts: Stationeers ships themed updates rather than a dated roadmap. The Power Line Update landed 12 August 2026 with power pylons, a cable gun, and the part hosts care about, major multiplayer traffic changes for large, high-latency bases. The Sanitation Update preceded it on 2 July. Skip to host impact →

Where RocketWerkz Communicates

RocketWerkz posts named, themed updates plus hotfixes to Steam News. There is no published dated roadmap; the pattern is a substantial themed update followed by rapid hotfixes (v0.2.6427 and v0.2.6428 both landed within two days of the Power Line Update). The community asks about this openly. r/Stationeers has a standing “Roadmap?” thread and regular “any ideas on the next patch” posts.

Where the Game Stands

Mature, actively developed, and still in Early Access after years, which in this case reads as steady iteration rather than drift. The 2026 updates have targeted infrastructure systems (sanitation, then power distribution) rather than new content, and RocketWerkz funds them partly through DLC.

What’s Confirmed for 2026

  • The Power Line Update, 12 August 2026: a Cable Gun for laying long runs, an Electrical Belt that feeds it, and Power Pylons that bridge two cable networks into one, built from a Power Pylon Kit and linked with Super Heavy Cable up to 40m a span with a Terminus at each end.
  • Multiplayer traffic management overhaul: shipped in the same update, explicitly aimed at “multiplayer on large bases, especially those with high latency”. This is the most host-relevant change of the year.
  • The Sanitation Update, 2 July 2026.
  • Hotfix cadence: v0.2.6427.27788 and v0.2.6428.27798 followed on 12 and 13 August.

Not confirmed: RocketWerkz does not publish a dated feature roadmap for Stationeers, so anything beyond the shipped updates above is speculation and is not listed here.

What Server Admins Should Plan For

Hardware

Stationeers is the rare survival game where the world costs more than the players. Atmospherics simulate continuously, so a two-person base with a mature gas network works a server harder than a fresh eight-player one, and the atmospheric tick is largely single-threaded.

  • First base, small crewPlan S (8 GB)
  • Established base, full gas networkPlan M (16 GB)
  • Large or heavily modded worldPlan L (24 GB+)

Prefer clock speed over core count. The Power Line Update’s traffic work should measurably help big bases with distant players, which is the exact case that used to justify oversizing.

Tuning the base rather than the box? Our free Stationeers Gas Mixer Calculator gives the temperature-corrected volatiles percentage (66.67% is only right when both input lines share a temperature) and the ideal-gas moles an IC10 script compares against a tank reading.

Keep the base breathing while you sleep

Furnaces, greenhouses and filtration keep running between sessions. Managed updates, autosaves and rotating backups.

Update-day hygiene

Two Stationeers-specific traps are worth automating around:

  • Version lockstep. Client and server must match, and hotfixes arrive within days of a themed update. A server left behind simply refuses connections. See version mismatch after an update.
  • Short autosave intervals. Stationeers worlds are long-lived and a lost hour of pipework genuinely hurts. Back up before applying a themed update, because infrastructure updates touch exactly the systems your base depends on.

If you self-host on Linux, the headless build needs a virtual framebuffer or it exits on start; that trap is covered in Linux headless and Docker notes.

Bottom Line

Stationeers in 2026 has no published roadmap and does not need one: the update rhythm is visible and the 2026 theme has been infrastructure. For server owners the Power Line Update is the headline, not for the pylons but for the multiplayer traffic work that came with it. Size for the base you will have in six months, not the one you have now.

Want the atmospherics running around the clock? Stationeers server hosting is sized for the simulation, not the slot count.
