Windrose Roadmap 2026: Ashlands, Linux Docker Servers, and the 0.10 Patch Line

Windrose (previously announced as Crosswind) is in Early Access on a steady small-patch cadence, with one major content update in early development. The most consequential change for server owners already shipped: official Docker images with Linux server support.

Last updated 26 August 2026. Every date below is from the studio’s own posts; nothing here is inferred.

The short version: Windrose is on the 0.10.0.x patch line, most recently 0.10.0.9 (25 August 2026). The first major content update is in early development under the working title Ashlands, with no date. Version 0.10.0.7 added Docker images with Linux dedicated-server support.

The Linux server change, and why it matters most

Patch 0.10.0.7 (25 June 2026) added Docker images with Linux server support, with setup instructions in DedicatedServer.md in the dedicated server root directory. The same patch line also added SaveWorkflow.md to that folder in 0.10.0.6.

For a game at this stage, official Linux server images are the single biggest hosting quality-of-life change a studio can ship. It moves Windrose from a Windows-only server story to something that runs cleanly on standard Linux hosts, and it means the studio is documenting server operation rather than leaving it to the community.

Ashlands: the first major content update

The 1 July 2026 devblog announced that, with post-release tasks addressed, the team is working on Windrose’s first major content update, currently titled Ashlands. The post opens with an unusually direct disclaimer: these are plans, plans may change, the team experiments a lot and discards what does not work.

Development is described as being at an early stage. No date, and no feature list should be treated as final.

The 0.10 patch line

Recent patches show what the team is prioritising:

  • 0.10.0.9 (25 August): cannonballs now correctly damage a ship’s stern, sails and hull
  • 0.10.0.8 (8 July): fixed projectiles passing through ships at long distance; improved Japanese localisation
  • 0.10.0.7 (25 June): Docker/Linux server images, Traditional Chinese support, sails damageable again
  • 0.10.0.6 (18 May): reduced disk usage and optimised disk writes during gameplay, performance improvements during boarding and artillery use

The naval combat fixes in particular are the kind that change PvP outcomes, so they are worth relaying to a community mid-season.

What server admins should plan for

  • Use the official Docker path. It is documented by the studio and it is what future patches will be tested against.
  • Disk behaviour improved in 0.10.0.6. If you sized storage or IOPS on older behaviour, it is worth re-measuring.
  • Backend maintenance happens. The 0.10.0.7 rollout included backend maintenance that made the game temporarily unavailable. Expect occasional studio-side windows you do not control.
  • Ashlands has no date. Plan capacity for it when a date exists, not before.
Running one? Windrose server hosting from Supercraft gives you the current build, automatic backups, and a console for the config changes described above.

Bottom line

Windrose is a small-patch Early Access game that has quietly done the most important thing for hosts: shipped documented Linux server images. Ashlands is real but early and undated. Run the Docker build, keep backups before each 0.10.0.x bump, and watch the devblogs for the Ashlands date.
