Core Keeper Biomes: All 10, With What Spawns in Each

Core Keeper: Complete Biome Exploration & World Map Guide

Master the vast underground world of Core Keeper with comprehensive guides to all biomes, mapping techniques, exploration strategies, and hidden secrets. Navigate efficiently and discover every resource location in your mining adventures!

World Structure Overview

Core Keeper's underground world is procedurally generated but follows consistent biome placement patterns. Understanding these patterns is key to efficient exploration and resource acquisition.

World Generation Principles

๐ŸŽฏ Central Starting Area

Every world begins with a safe central area containing the Core and basic resources. This is your home base for initial exploration.

๐ŸŒ€ Concentric Biome Rings

Biomes are arranged in rings around the center, with difficulty increasing as you move outward from the Core.

๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ Procedural Variation

While biome order is consistent, exact layouts, cave structures, and resource placements vary with each world seed.

๐Ÿ”— Connecting Pathways

Natural tunnels and cave systems connect biomes, but you can also dig your own passages for faster travel.

Every Biome in the Current Build

This table is read directly out of the shipped dedicated server, build 23543502: the names are the game's own localisation entries and the contents are its spawn tables, not a community list. The internal id is the name the server files use, which is what you will see in logs and in Conf/Spawn if you run your own world.

Ten biomes carry a player-facing name in this build. The enum holds two more: Biome.Obsidian and the internal Biome.None both resolve to "Unknown" in the game's own localisation table, so they are unreleased or internal rather than places you can visit today. The Dirt starting area around the Core is not in that enum at all; the build files it separately, under the category the game labels "Dirt biome", which is why it does not appear in the table above.

Carefully hidden stashes of valuable materials, often behind environmental puzzles.

Discovery Techniques

  • Wall Testing: Mine suspicious wall sections that look different
  • Pattern Recognition: Look for unusual block arrangements or symmetry
  • Sound Cues: Listen for hidden water, machinery, or creature sounds
  • Light Analysis: Check for light sources behind thin walls
  • Map Analysis: Unexplored gaps on your map may indicate hidden areas

Danger Management

Environmental Hazards

๐Ÿ’ฅ Cave-Ins

Unsupported ceilings may collapse. Use support beams and avoid mining directly upward.

๐ŸŒŠ Flooding

Breaking into water pockets can flood tunnels. Have drainage plans and water pumps ready.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Gas Pockets

Flammable or toxic gases in certain areas. Use ventilation and gas detection equipment.

โ„๏ธ Temperature Extremes

Some biomes have extreme cold or heat. Wear appropriate clothing and bring temperature regulators.

Multiplayer Exploration Coordination

Coordinated expeditions work best when the world stays online around the clock, so teammates can pick up mapping and resource runs whenever they log in. Enjoy persistent co-op survival worlds? Supercraft also runs a managed Core Keeper server plan, keeping your underground world online 24/7 with automatic backups.

Team Exploration Strategies

  • Scouting Parties: Small teams exploring different directions simultaneously
  • Base Camp Network: Establish forward bases in each major biome
  • Resource Specialization: Assign team members to focus on specific resource types
  • Mapping Collaboration: Shared mapping systems with coordinated marking conventions
  • Emergency Response: Designated rescue teams for exploring party emergencies

Communication Systems

  • Radio Networks: Craft walkie-talkies for long-distance communication
  • Signal Flares: Visual signals for emergencies or important discoveries
  • Message Boards: Physical boards at base camps for leaving notes
  • Map Annotations: Shared digital maps with team notes and markers

Biome-Specific Exploration Tips

For Each Major Biome

Dirt & Clay Biomes: Focus on establishing infrastructure. Create wide, well-lit tunnels with clear marking systems. These areas will become your main transportation network.

The Forgotten Ruins: Cavelings arrive in groups and the Shamans heal the rest, so open on the Shaman. Caveling Pots break into more of them, which is what turns a clean fight into a bad one.

Breaker's Reach: The Geobots patrol rather than wander, so a route learned once stays true. Explosive Barrels sit among the scrap and chain further than you expect.

Azeos' Wilderness: Plan expeditions carefully. Bring ample supplies, backup equipment, and escape routes. The rewards are great but the dangers are significant.

Mapping Software & Tools

Recommended External Tools

  • Core Keeper Map Viewer: Community tool for visualizing world maps
  • Biome Scanner Mod: In-game mod that helps identify biome boundaries
  • Resource Tracker: Database tool for logging resource locations
  • Coordinates Manager: Save and organize important coordinate sets

Manual Mapping Techniques

  1. Grid System: Divide the world into manageable grid sections
  2. Progressive Exploration: Systematically explore one grid at a time
  3. Documentation: Keep detailed notes of discoveries in each area
  4. Regular Updates: Continuously update maps as new areas are explored

Troubleshooting Exploration Issues

โŒ Getting Lost Frequently

Improve marking systems, use consistent tunnel designs, craft navigation tools, create detailed maps.

โšก Running Out of Supplies

Establish supply caches along exploration routes, use portable crafting stations, plan expeditions with adequate resources.

๐Ÿ”„ Inefficient Exploration Patterns

Adopt systematic exploration methods (spiral, grid, radial), use scout drones if available, prioritize high-value areas.

๐Ÿ’Ž Missing Hidden Areas

Use detection equipment, pay attention to environmental clues, revisit areas with new tools, consult community maps.

Pro Tip: Always carry mapping supplies (torches, signs, markers) on every expedition. Consistent marking and documentation will save you countless hours of backtracking and rediscovery!
