Enshrouded: Dedicated Server Specs
Enshrouded is built on the Holistic engine, which uses voxel technology. Every piece of terrain is destructible. This makes the game significantly more demanding than static-map games like Palworld or Valheim.
1. RAM: Less Than the Usual Advice
16GB is the figure most guides quote, but the Enshrouded servers we run use under 2GB with a small group (measured below). Treat 16GB as headroom for a large, heavily built world, not as a minimum.
2. CPU Speed Matters
The game server logic (enemy AI, physics) runs heavily on a few core threads. You need a CPU with high single-core clock speeds (4.0GHz+), not just "more cores".
3. Upload Speed
Sending voxel data to 16 players requires massive bandwidth. Home connections with 20Mbps upload often cause "rubber-banding" for connected clients.
Detailed Requirements (2025)
Small Group (1-4 Players)
- CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 / Intel i5-9600K (or equivalent 6-core)
- RAM: 4GB covers a small group comfortably; ours hold under 2GB (see the measured figures below)
- Storage: 30GB SSD
- Network: 50Mbps Upload
Large Group (8-16 Players)
- CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X / Intel i9-12900K (High frequency is king)
- RAM: 16GB - 24GB Dedicated
- Storage: 60GB NVMe SSD (Fast loads are crucial for teleporting)
- Network: 1Gbps Fiber recommended
Measured: What Our Enshrouded Servers Actually Use
| Typical (median) | Busy (90th percentile) | |
|---|---|---|
| Memory in use | 1.1 GB | 1.7 GB |
The 17 Enshrouded servers we run held 1.1 GB typical and 1.7 GB at the busiest, far below the 16 GB most guides quote. Most of them host small groups, so a full 16-player world will need more, but for a small group 16 GB is not a minimum.
1.0 has not changed the picture so far: a few hours after the 15 October 2026 update, the 12 servers we run that had loaded a world held 0.7 GB typical and 1.1 GB at most. The 1.0 server files take 7.6 GB on disk.
Memory here is everything the server process holds, including anything moved to swap. CPU is in cores, where 1.0 is one full core. Typical is the median reading; busy is the reading only one in ten went above.
Why "High Server Load"?
If you see the "High Server Load" warning in-game:
- Packet Loss: Your internet upload speed is choking.
- CPU Bottleneck: The server cannot calculate physics fast enough. This usually happens when many players are spread out in different chunks, forcing the server to simulate multiple areas at once.
- Slow Disk: An HDD cannot stream assets fast enough. Always use an SSD.
Note: If meeting these specs at home sounds like too much, managed Enshrouded dedicated server hosting runs on enterprise-grade hardware specifically tuned for high-clock speed applications, ensuring your Glider flight is smooth and lag-free.
Power the Shroud. Host your Enshrouded server with Supercraft to ensure you have the raw power needed for a 16-player voxel adventure.
