Icarus Crossplay & Dedicated Servers
Check the exact platform path
Icarus dedicated-server documentation and the console edition should not be treated as interchangeable. Steam's PC listing confirms online co-op and dedicated-server play; the PlayStation listing states that the console edition does not support crossplay. Verify any Steam/Epic compatibility claim against the current server build before advertising it.
What to confirm before setup
- Every player owns the same supported PC or console edition.
- The client and dedicated server are on the same game build.
- The server build's current notes explicitly mention the storefront combination you need.
- Console players are not promised access to a PC dedicated server unless the current official console documentation says so.
Dedicated-server connection checklist
- Install the current dedicated-server build for your platform path.
- Set the server name, password, and world mode in the configuration supported by that build.
- Allow the game's documented UDP port through the firewall and expose the same port in the host panel or router.
- Try the in-game server browser first. If the current client exposes direct connect, use the server address and configured port.
- Keep a copy of the server log and the exact client/server versions when troubleshooting.
Common failures
- Server not visible: check registration, query settings, firewall reachability, and whether the advertised port matches the exposed port.
- Version mismatch: update or pin both sides to the same build.
- Console cannot join: treat this as a platform-support question first, not a RAM or port problem.
- Connection failed: test from outside the hosting network and inspect the first server-side error.
