Minecraft Proxy Guide: Velocity & BungeeCord

Creating a Network (BungeeCord / Velocity)

Connect multiple servers together so players can teleport between them without disconnecting.

Velocity vs BungeeCord

Velocity is the modern, faster, and more secure successor to BungeeCord. We highly recommend using Velocity.

How it Works

The Proxy acts as the gateway. Players connect to the Proxy, which forwards them to "Lobby", "Survival", or "Creative" servers.

Configuration (paper.yml)

On your backend servers (Survival/Lobby), you must enable BungeeCord support:

# In config/paper-global.yml proxies: bungee-cord: online-mode: true velocity: enabled: true secret: "your-secret-key-here"

Warning: Never expose your backend server ports to the public internet. Only the Proxy port (25565) should be public.
