Wheat Farming Finding And Farming Wheat Seeds

Wheat Farming: Finding and Farming Wheat Seeds

Wheat is a key crop in Palworld. You grind it into Flour at a Mill, and Flour is the base for Bread and for Cake, the resource you need to breed Pals. This guide covers how to get Wheat Seeds, how to build and run a Wheat Plantation, which Pals do the work, and what wheat is used for.

Why Farm Wheat?

Wheat is turned into Flour, which is used to craft:

  • Bread - A basic food that restores hunger, cooked from 1 Flour.
  • Cake - Placed at the Breeding Farm so Pals lay eggs. Cake is required for breeding.
  • Pizza and other dishes - Higher-tier recipes that also use Flour.

A steady wheat supply keeps your kitchen and your Breeding Farm stocked.

Finding Wheat Seeds

You only need a small handful of Wheat Seeds to get started, because the Wheat Plantation produces more seeds as you harvest. There are three ways to obtain the first batch.

Method 1: Buy from a Merchant

A merchant at the Small Settlement (the first town, northwest of the Plateau of Beginnings starting area) sells Wheat Seeds for 100 Gold each. The settlement has a fast travel point, so it is easy to return and restock. Wandering Merchants that visit your base may also carry seeds, though their stock is not guaranteed.

Method 2: Loot from Chests

Wheat Seeds can occasionally be found in chests scattered around the world. This is unreliable compared with buying or hunting, but worth grabbing when you come across them.

Method 3: Defeat or Capture Grass Pals

Several Grass-type Pals drop Wheat Seeds when captured or defeated. The confirmed droppers are:

  • Dinossom - Often cited as the most convenient source; found in open plains, including areas north of the Rayne Syndicate Tower.
  • Flopie - A weaker, less aggressive option that is good for early hunting.
  • Cinnamoth - Found in forested and grassy areas.
  • Bristla - Common in grassy regions near the starting zones.
  • Robinquill - Found in grassy and forest areas.

Weaken these Pals before throwing a sphere if you want to capture rather than defeat them.

Setting Up Your Wheat Farm

Unlocking and Building the Wheat Plantation

Wheat is grown in a dedicated Wheat Plantation, not the Berry Plantation.

  • Technology Level required: 15
  • Technology Points cost: 2
  • Build materials: 3x Wheat Seeds, 35x Wood, 35x Stone
  • Placement: Flat ground inside your base with room to expand

Gather at least 3 Wheat Seeds before building, since the seeds are consumed as part of the construction cost.

Work Suitabilities the Plantation Needs

A Wheat Plantation runs on three different jobs, so assign Pals that cover all of them:

  • Planting - Sows the seeds.
  • Watering - Waters the crop so it grows.
  • Gathering - Harvests the mature wheat and moves it to storage.

After your first harvest you will gather enough seeds to keep replanting without buying or hunting more.

Best Pals for the Farm

Planting Pals

  • Lyleen - Planting Lv4, the highest in the game; also has Handiwork Lv3 and Medicine Production Lv3.
  • Broncherry - Planting Lv3, with no competing jobs so it stays focused on the field.
  • Petallia - Planting Lv3, plus Handiwork Lv2 and Medicine Production Lv2.
  • Verdash - Planting Lv2, plus Handiwork Lv3.

None of the strong planters above carry the Watering job, so pair them with dedicated watering Pals.

Watering Pals

  • Jormuntide - Watering Lv4, the top option for a large farm.
  • Azurobe - Watering Lv3.
  • Teafant - Watering Lv2, an easy early-game pick.
  • Pengullet / Fuack - Low-level watering, fine as a stopgap.

Layout Tips

  • Keep the plantation, a storage chest, and a Mill close together so Pals do not waste time walking.
  • Put a Feed Box nearby so working Pals stay fed and do not stop to look for food.
  • Build extra plantations once you have spare seeds to scale up output.

Processing Wheat into Flour

Unlocking and Building the Mill

  • Technology Level required: 15
  • Technology Points cost: 2
  • Build materials: 50x Wood, 40x Stone

How Milling Works

  • Conversion: 3 Wheat produce 1 Flour.
  • Power: The Mill runs on a Watering Pal. The higher its Watering level, the faster wheat is processed.
  • Add wheat to the Mill, keep a watering Pal assigned, and collect Flour when it is done.

Using Wheat Products

Bread

  • Ingredients: 1x Flour
  • Cooked at: Campfire (Technology Level 2), Cooking Pot, or Electric Kitchen
  • Effect: Restores hunger; a cheap, reliable staple food.

Cake

  • Ingredients: 5x Flour, 8x Red Berries, 7x Milk, 8x Eggs, 2x Honey
  • Cooked at: Cooking Pot (unlocked at Level 17)
  • Use: Placed at the Breeding Farm so Pals lay eggs. Cake is required to breed Pals.

For the other Cake ingredients: Red Berries come from a Berry Plantation (Technology Level 5), Milk from Mozzarina in a Ranch, Eggs from Chikipi in a Ranch, and Honey from Beegarde in a Ranch.

Pizza

  • Ingredients: 1x Flour, 2x Red Berries, 2x Tomato, 2x Milk
  • Cooked at: Electric Kitchen or Large-Scale Stone Oven (Electric Kitchen unlocks at Level 41 and needs a power source)
  • Effect: A late-game dish that gives a temporary buff.

Troubleshooting

Wheat not growing

  • Make sure a Watering Pal is assigned and not stuck or asleep.
  • Confirm seeds are actually planted in the plantation.
  • Check that a Planting Pal is available to sow.

Pals not working the farm

  • Verify the Pals have the right work suitabilities (Planting, Watering, Gathering).
  • Keep the Feed Box stocked. Hungry Pals stop working.
  • Check work priorities in the base management menu and that paths to the plantation are clear.

No Flour coming out of the Mill

  • Make sure there is wheat loaded in the Mill.
  • Assign a Watering Pal. The Mill will not run without one.

Quick Checklist

  • Get a few Wheat Seeds (merchant at 100 Gold, chests, or Grass Pal drops).
  • Reach Technology Level 15 and unlock the Wheat Plantation.
  • Build the plantation with 3 Wheat Seeds, 35 Wood, 35 Stone.
  • Assign Pals covering Planting, Watering, and Gathering.
  • Build the Mill (Level 15, 50 Wood, 40 Stone) and assign a Watering Pal.
  • Mill wheat into Flour (3 Wheat = 1 Flour) and start cooking Bread and Cake.
