Loading Custom Maps in VEIN Dedicated Servers
Expand beyond the base city by booting your server into custom community maps, giving your survivors an entirely new geography to conquer and scavenge.
The Base Map vs Custom Maps
VEIN's official map provides a dense, intricate urban and rural environment, but long-term communities often wish to rotate the scenery. Because VEIN is actively developed, the modding community is beginning to provide alternatives that can be loaded seamlessly.
Loading a Custom Map via Command Line
If you are injecting a map, you generally specify the map name inside the server startup parameters. In your server dashboard or start .bat file, modify the map value:
VeinServer.exe CustomMapName?listen -logUsing Config.ini
Some map overrides can also be managed via the primary Config.ini file inside the saved config directory. Look for the ServerMap or MapOverride variables.
Important: Ensure any custom map files (often .umap or packed in .pak files depending on VEIN's evolving mod structure) are correctly placed in the
Content/Maps or Mods folders on the server, and that clients have downloaded the exact same files to prevent connection rejections!
