Configuring Loot Tables and Respawn Timers in VEIN

A persistent server must regenerate its resources, or late-joining players will inherit a barren wasteland. Learn how to configure loot respawn rates dynamically.

The Loot Economy

In a standard single-player game of VEIN, once you loot a house, it stays looted. In multiplayer, an empty house means a dead server. The server must be configured to refresh containers and shelf spawns.

Configuration Edits

Locate your Game.ini or Config.ini and find the loot management section.

[/Script/Vein.LootManager]
bEnableLootRespawn=True
LootRespawnTimeHours=12.0
LootItemsMultiplier=1.5

Setting Breakdown

  • bEnableLootRespawn: A strict Boolean. Set to True to ensure cans of beans and ammunition repopulate over time.
  • LootRespawnTimeHours: The in-game or real-world time (depending on server parameters) it takes for a cleared container to restock. 12.0 is a balanced middle ground.
  • LootItemsMultiplier: Global modifier. Setting to 1.5 increases the global abundance across every container type by 50%. Setting to 0.1 creates a miserable, brutal hardcore economy.
Admin Tip: Players standing too close to a loot spawn will often block it from respawning to prevent them from sitting in a grocery store farming food endlessly. Encourage players to build bases away from high-density urban loot centers.
