VEIN World Settings Guide: Difficulty, Loot & Build-Aware Testing

VEIN World Settings Guide

VEIN world rules can affect the entire group and may change across Early Access branches. Use the settings exposed by the current panel or generated files; there is no reliable universal list of keys that should be pasted into every server.

Settings audit

Rule familyQuestions to answerHow to verify
DifficultyDoes the current build expose a preset or custom value?Change one option in a test world and observe combat.
ZombiesIs population/behavior controlled by this server or only by the game build?Compare a repeatable location before and after restart.
LootIs scarcity or respawn supported, and what clock does it use?Use the loot test.
World timeDoes the current UI or package expose day/night behavior?Record the starting time and next cycle.
PvP/accessAre rules global, per-world, or community-enforced?Test with two accounts and document the result.

Safe change sequence

  1. Back up the active save and configuration.
  2. Stop the server fully.
  3. Change one supported setting.
  4. Start and read the log for parse or load errors.
  5. Test with one admin and one normal account.
  6. Keep the old copy until the group confirms the behavior.

If a setting does nothing

Check the active instance, section, branch, file ownership, panel overwrite, and whether the value is client-side. Use the settings-not-applying guide; do not add random ZombieSettings.ini or Engine.ini keys just because a search result uses those names.

Reference boundary

The public dedicated-server reference is the place to confirm the server app, launch example, and ports. Check the official announcement stream for branch changes.
