Best ARK: Survival Evolved Server Hosting (2026): ASE Plan Checklist

Last reviewed: 2026-09-02 · Original ARK/ASE dedicated-server hosting · A buyer’s decision guide, not a paid ranking

ARK: Survival Evolved remains a different hosting job from ASA. Classic maps, Steam Workshop mods, breeding, clusters, and long-running tribe saves all point to the original server ecosystem. If your group is on the UE5 remaster, use the separate ASA guide instead.

Use the checklist to compare the server application, memory, mod and cluster controls, backups, and platform fit. The Supercraft cards below are live plan references, not an objective ranking of every provider in the market.

What actually matters when choosing ARK: Survival Evolved hosting

Use these checks when comparing any provider. They are deliberately tied to this game’s server model, so a high slot number or generic “unlimited” badge cannot answer them for you.

1. Confirm the original ASE branch

ARK names are easy to blur together, but ASA and ASE use different applications, maps, and mod stores.

Check: Require the provider to identify Survival Evolved and confirm the classic map or cluster you need.

2. RAM for tribes and breeding

A mature tribe adds creatures, structures, inventories, and breeding activity that a new map does not represent.

Check: Compare memory headroom with tribe size and mod load, then verify an in-place upgrade.

3. Workshop collection handling

A server that installs one mod but cannot keep a collection and its versions consistent will create join failures.

Check: Ask how Workshop collections, load order, updates, and a rollback are managed.

4. Cluster and admin controls

The value of an ASE host often lies in moving a tribe between maps without losing characters, items, or configuration.

Check: Check cluster settings, RCON, FTP, admin commands, and map-change support before selecting a plan.

5. Backups and wipe boundaries

A wipe should be deliberate. It should not delete the only copy of a tribe save or make restoration dependent on a ticket.

Check: Verify snapshot retention, save downloads, restore timing, and how a wipe is separated from backups.

6. Platform and region fit

Crossplay, mods, and console participation can each impose a different constraint on an unofficial server.

Check: List every player platform and target map, then select the nearest region that supports the intended setup.

Green flags and red flags

Use these as questions for a provider, not as a substitute for testing the exact game build, map, mod list, or save.

Green flags

  • The page says ASE/Survival Evolved rather than relying on the word ARK alone.
  • Workshop collections and cluster travel are documented.
  • The host explains save downloads and pre-wipe recovery.
  • Plan sizing considers creatures, structures, breeding, and mods.

Red flags

  • ASA and ASE are presented as interchangeable.
  • Workshop support is a one-click badge with no update or rollback detail.
  • Clusters are promised without RCON, FTP, or transfer guidance.
  • The provider treats a wipe as the same thing as a backup.

Where Supercraft fits the checklist

Supercraft is the operator behind the offer shown below, so this section is an affiliation disclosure as well as a comparison. The useful claim is limited to what the corresponding hosting page actually lists; verify unusual mods, platform mixes, or capacity assumptions before ordering.

12/20/32 player tiers cover small tribes through larger communities.
The ASE page lists Steam Workshop mods, clusters, FTP, automatic backups, DDoS protection, and four regions.
Fast restarts and configuration access support map and mod changes.
Use the ASA companion page for the UE5 build and CurseForge workflow.
Download a tribe/world backup before a map transfer, mod update, or seasonal wipe.

ARK: Survival Evolved hosting FAQ

What is the difference between ASE and ASA hosting?

ASE is the original ARK: Survival Evolved server ecosystem, with classic maps and Steam Workshop mods. ASA is the UE5 remaster with a separate server application and current CurseForge workflow. Do not order one when your tribe needs the other.

How many players do the ASE plans support?

The Supercraft ASE page lists up to 12 players on S, 20 on M, and 32 on L. Actual performance also depends on map, creatures, structures, breeding, and Workshop mods.

Do I need a cluster for ASE?

No. A single map is enough for a private tribe. A cluster becomes useful when you want transfers between supported maps and need the host to preserve the settings and save boundaries correctly.

What should an ASE backup include?

Keep the world save, tribe and player data, configuration, and a record of the active mod collection. Test a restore or transfer with a copy before the original server is wiped.

Can an ASE host be used for ASA?

Not by assumption. ASA and ASE are separate server products. Use a provider page that explicitly names the branch, application, map support, and mod ecosystem you intend to run.
