Everwind Roadmap 2026: What the Next Update Adds, and What Comes After
Everwind passed four months in Early Access in July and published an unusually clear “Future Features” post: a named feature list for the next update, and a separate list of longer-term ambitions. No dates are attached to either, and the studio says so plainly.
Last updated 26 August 2026. Every date below is from the studio’s own posts; nothing here is inferred.
What the next update is planned to add
From the 31 July 2026 “Everwind – Future Features” post, the studio’s own list for the upcoming update:
- A new bandit faction
- Sandbox mode (creative mode)
- First steps of adding modding support
- Steamer localizer, a new navigation mechanism
- New unique items and new enemies
The post states directly that no specific dates can be promised yet. That is the whole of what is confirmed; anything more specific circulating elsewhere is not from the studio.
Modding support is the one to watch
Of that list, modding support is the item with the largest effect on hosting. “First steps” is deliberately modest wording, and a server owner should read it that way: it signals direction, not a finished mod ecosystem. When it arrives, expect the usual sequence of an early API, community experimentation, and a period where mod compatibility breaks on every update.
Where the game stands
The studio’s four-month Early Access retrospective (10 July 2026) listed what community feedback had driven: improved multiplayer stability, fixed progression issues, cleaned-up crashes, and work on the saving system. Multiplayer stability and save-system work are the two areas that most directly determine whether a persistent community server is viable, so that is a meaningful list rather than a marketing one.
The team also ran a Boss Rush community challenge around the Mortivar Lord through July, and attended Gamescom and the Future Games Show in late August with what they described as a surprise for what is planned next. Anything announced there postdates this page’s last check.
What server admins should plan for
- Back up before each update. Save-system work was explicitly part of the recent fix list, which is exactly the area where backups earn their keep.
- Sandbox mode may change what your players want. A creative mode on a shared world raises questions about whether you run it separately.
- Do not promise mod support yet. “First steps” is not a mod ecosystem.
Bottom line
Everwind is four-plus months into Early Access with a candid studio: a named next-update feature list, no dates, and a fix history that prioritised multiplayer stability and saves. For hosts that is a good sign. Watch for the post-Gamescom announcement.
