Avorion Galaxy Save Backup and Restore
An Avorion galaxy is a directory of sectors, factions, players, alliances, mods and configuration. Backing up one visible file is not enough, and closing the process without a save can leave the newest progress out of the copy.
Backup sequence
- Warn players that the galaxy is entering maintenance.
- Run
/savefrom the server. - Run
/stopand wait for the process to exit. - Copy the complete named galaxy folder, including
server.iniand mod configuration. - Record the server build and mod list beside the archive.
Restore verification
| Check | Expected result |

| Galaxy name | The intended galaxy loads, not a new blank directory. |
| Player and faction | An admin sees the expected inventory, ships and alliances. |
| Sector travel | Known sectors and stations load without errors. |
| Mods | The saved mod configuration is compatible with the server build. |
Keep the pre-restore copy until multiple players have verified their ships, stations and sectors. A process that starts is not proof that a galaxy restored correctly.
