Empyrion Server Not Showing Up
A missing Empyrion server is not automatically a dead server. The browser depends on a running process, a matching client build, valid scenario files and a reachable query path. Check those layers in that order.
Five-minute diagnosis
- Confirm the server process is still running after startup and that the log reaches a listening state.
- Make sure every player is on the same game build and scenario version.
- Use the exact game and query ports displayed by the server or hosting panel.
- Try a direct connection while the browser refreshes. A direct join working proves discovery, not the world, is the failing layer.
- Remove client-side filters such as password, region or full-server filters before declaring the server offline.
Read the symptom
| Result | Likely cause | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| LAN works, Internet does not | Forwarding or firewall | Open the assigned ports on the correct host. |
| Direct join fails immediately | Wrong port, stopped process or version mismatch | Check the log and connection values. |
| Direct join loads but world is wrong | Different GameName or scenario | Compare dedicated.yaml and save identity. |
Do not copy a port number from a forum post into a managed server. The assigned port is the authority; defaults differ between installations and hosts.
Once the server is visible, keep the scenario and build pinned during a playthrough. The Reforged Eden 2 save guide covers the most common version trap. For managed ports and updates, see Empyrion server hosting.
