Hytale System Requirements (2026): To Play, and To Host a Server

Hytale System Requirements: To Play, and To Host a Server

Two questions arrive in the same words. "What do I need to run Hytale" is about your PC, and the tables below are the developers' own numbers. "What does a Hytale server need" is a machine that renders nothing, and that answer is further down. One fact sits behind both: in singleplayer your computer also runs the server, so singleplayer is the heaviest way to play Hytale, not the lightest.

To play Hytale: the official requirements

Hypixel Studios published these on December 1, 2025, from in-house testing on integrated GPUs, mid-range laptops and recording rigs. A 64-bit processor and operating system are required. The table was tested on Windows; the game is also available for macOS and Linux (through Flatpak) via the launcher.

Minimum (1080p, 30+ fps, Low)Recommended (1080p, 60+ fps, High)
OSWindows 10 64-bit (version 1809) or Windows 11Windows 10 64-bit (version 1809) or Windows 11
ProcessorIntel Core i5-7500 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200, or equivalentIntel Core i5-10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600, or equivalent
Memory8 GB with a dedicated graphics card; 12 GB with integrated graphics; 8 GB for multiplayer only16 GB
Graphics, integratedIntel UHD Graphics 620 or AMD Radeon Vega 6Intel Iris Xe or AMD Radeon 660M
Graphics, dedicatedNVIDIA GTX 900 series, AMD Radeon 400 series or Intel Arc A-seriesThe same list; the recommended tier is about CPU and memory

StorageSATA SSD with 20 GB freeNVMe SSD with 20 GB free

Three lines in that table decide most "can I run it" questions.

  • Integrated graphics needs 12 GB, not 8. An iGPU borrows system memory, and the developers measured the difference. A laptop with 8 GB and no dedicated card is below minimum for singleplayer even if the CPU is fine.
  • OpenGL 4.1 is a hard floor. Since Update 6 (August 27, 2026) the client force-closes when joining a world on hardware that stops at OpenGL 4.0, such as Intel HD Graphics 4000-class chips, even though those machines ran early builds. That is a requirement, not a bug; a software OpenGL layer is the only way around it and the developers do not support it. The developers also say future versions may require Vulkan 1.3 and DirectX 12, so a card that only just clears 4.1 is living on borrowed time.
  • The minimum really means 30 fps at 1080p on Low. Their own benchmark for an Intel HD 630 is 30 to 34 fps at a view distance of 192 blocks with nothing else running. Players reporting 75 fps on a decent mid-range PC and asking whether something is wrong are seeing normal numbers for a game that is simulating a world, not a broken install.

Storage grows with your world. The install is about 8 GB, but a Hytale world is procedurally generated without a fixed limit, and the developers recommend at least 10 GB free, with 20 GB as the comfortable figure for a long playthrough. Network use in multiplayer scales with view distance: you download far more than you upload, and upload speed is essentially irrelevant.

Recording and streaming

The developers publish a third tier for stable frametimes at 1440p while capturing: an Intel Core i7-10700K or AMD Ryzen 7 3800X, 32 GB of memory, an NVIDIA RTX 30 series, AMD Radeon RX 7000 series or Intel Arc card, and an NVMe SSD with 50 GB or 10% free, ideally recording to a separate drive. It is optional; it exists because a modern encoder gives much better video at the same bitrate.

Low fps or crashes on hardware that should be fine

  1. Update the graphics driver first. The OpenGL 4.1 check is done by the driver, and an old driver on capable hardware fails it.
  2. Set the view distance to 192 blocks and test. It is the setting the developers themselves used to hit the minimum-spec numbers.
  3. Check memory against the 12 GB rule if the machine has integrated graphics, and close the browser and Discord while testing.
  4. Crashing on an Intel integrated GPU after Update 6? Hotfix 0.6.6 on September 14, 2026 fixed a random crash on exactly those machines; make sure the launcher has updated you past it. The running list of launch and update issues is in launch bugs and fixes.
  5. Rubber banding or disconnects with good fps are the network or the server, not your PC; connection timeouts walks through that side.

To host a Hytale server: a different question

A dedicated server does not render anything, so the graphics rows above do not apply to it. The official Server Manual sets the floor at 4 GB of memory and Java 25, on either x64 or arm64, and asks you to watch real CPU and memory use for your player count because consumption depends on how people play. What a server actually needs grows with players, view distance and how spread out the world is; the Java heap is set by hand with -Xmx and there is no shortcut for finding the right value other than measuring.

Use caseStarting pointWhat changes the answer
Friends, a handful of players4 GB of memory, one fast core, an SSDView distance and how far apart people wander
A community server8 GB or more, a high-clock CPU, NVMePlayer count at peak, mods, and world size over time
Modded or event serversMeasure at peak and add headroomServer-side mods and scripting load

The self-host walk-through is how to make a Hytale server, the memory side is in high memory usage, and what renting costs against running it yourself is in server cost and pricing. If a world already misbehaves, the free Hytale World Doctor reads the region files and says what is wrong with them.

The requirements above are quoted from the developers' Hytale PC performance and system requirements post, which they update when the engine changes; the server figures are from their Server Manual, last revised June 2026.

Host Hytale with Supercraft and the server question disappears: your friends join a machine sized for the player count, and the 12 GB singleplayer problem on a laptop becomes an 8 GB multiplayer one.
