Panthalus: World Tree Gate, Base Defense & Breeding (Palworld 1.0)
Panthalus is a Water type Pal added in Palworld 1.0 (Paldeck #203): an XL, rarity 10 flying whale that you do not catch for fun. Capturing Panthalus is how you enter The World Tree, the update's endgame region, which makes it a progression wall for every player heading into the 1.0 content.
How to catch Panthalus
- Panthalus appears as a level 70 encounter; the named version is Legendary Ocean King Panthalus.
- It is an XL Pal with a defense-heavy base statline (180 HP, 120 Attack, 200 Defense base values), so bring endgame spheres and a party built for a long fight.
- Guaranteed drops: Diamond and a Giant Pal Soul, both at 100 percent, so even repeat catches pay.
Once caught, The World Tree opens, where the other 1.0 headliners spawn: Solenne at 76 to 78 and high-level Eidrolon. See the 1.0 zone progression guide for the full route.
Partner skill: Resonant Guardian
Panthalus can be ridden as a flying mount, but its distinctive use is at home: assigned to a base, it constantly patrols the skies and bombards intruders from above. Only one Panthalus can be summoned per base, so it acts as a single dedicated air-defense slot rather than a stackable turret.
Breeding: catch it, do not plan around combos
Panthalus follows the 1.0 rule for top-tier Pals: it cannot be cross-bred. In the 1.0 breeding data the only parent pair that produces Panthalus is Panthalus + Panthalus, hatching from a Huge Damp Egg. Verify it yourself in the Palworld 1.0 breeding calculator: the reverse lookup shows the same-species pair and nothing else. Catch your first two in the wild; after that you can multiply them.
The same catch-first rule applies to Faleris, Orserk, Grizzbolt, Lyleen and Shadowbeak in 1.0. The era of cheap shortcut combos for endgame Pals ended with the July 2026 rebalance.
Panthalus on a dedicated server
Two multiplayer notes. First, every member of a group needs World Tree access, so plan the level 70 catch as a guild event rather than a solo errand; a persistent world keeps the progress when people log off. Second, on servers where raids hit bases while owners are away, the one-per-base Resonant Guardian patrol is insurance that works at 4am. Running your own world?
