Rust Roadmap 2026: Apartments, Clans, Nexus & What's Next
Facepunch's Rust roadmap is a direction of travel, not a release contract. The reliable way to read it is to separate updates that have shipped from items that remain planned. As of August 20, 2026, Common Ground and Power Trip are live; the remaining roadmap items can still move, change shape, or be cancelled.
Current status: Common Ground shipped on July 2 with the Apartment Complex, rentable shops, clans, and raid-window tools. Power Trip shipped on August 6 with monument and power-grid changes. Read Facepunch's official roadmap for the source of truth.
What shipped in the 2026 Rust updates
- Naval Update (February 5): Modular boats, the Deep Sea, and related naval content are live on PC.
- Common Ground (July 2): The Apartment Complex, rentable player shops, the Clan system, and raid-window controls arrived with the monthly wipe.
- Power Trip (August 6): Power Plant, Launch Site, Oil Rig, Water Treatment, and other monument interactions received changes; use the official changelist for the complete list.
The Apartment Complex, shops and clans
The Apartment Complex is a live monument, not an upcoming feature. Players rent rooms with scrap and can be evicted when the rent runs out. The complex also provides rentable shops, while the new Clan system adds clan tables, roles, clan chat, and clan identity beyond a normal team.
For the full mechanic breakdown and server-admin notes, see the Common Ground guide.
What remains on the official roadmap
The current roadmap places Nexus among the Q3 direction and lists animals, AI, breeding, biofuel, and procedural caves in the Q4 direction. Facepunch has not promised that every item will ship on that quarter's date, so do not advertise a server around an unreleased mechanic as if it were already available.
- Nexus: A planned multi-server direction; wait for official configuration and deployment documentation before treating it as a production cluster feature.
- Animals and breeding: Planned ecosystem work, not a live server setting or a guaranteed release date.
- Performance and anticheat: Facepunch continues to list ongoing work, but operators should follow the monthly changelog rather than assume a particular improvement or requirement.
Server-admin checklist for roadmap updates
- Schedule a maintenance window around the first-Thursday PC update and confirm the server build before opening it.
- Update Oxide/uMod or Carbon and each plugin after the game build, then test the wipe and backup path.
- Publish your wipe date, blueprint policy, raid-window rules, and mod policy so players know what is actually live.
- Use the official roadmap and changelog as the release source; treat community predictions and “maybe” features as speculation.
