SCP: Secret Laboratory EXILED Plugin Setup
EXILED turns a stock SCP:SL server into a community-specific game, but it also adds a second compatibility surface. The framework, plugin and server build must agree before players join.
Install one change at a time
- Back up the server and its configuration.
- Check that the EXILED release supports the current SCP:SL build.
- Install the framework first and start once.
- Add one plugin, then read the startup log for load or dependency errors.
- Test a private round before adding the next plugin.
Compatibility matrix
| Layer | Must match | Typical symptom when it does not |
|---|---|---|
| Client/server | Game build | Players cannot join. |
| Framework/server | Supported game API | Server crashes or framework fails to load. |
| Plugin/framework | Plugin dependency and API | Plugin is skipped, throws errors or breaks a round. |
Do not diagnose every join failure as a port problem. Temporarily booting a clean stock server is the fastest way to separate network failure from plugin failure.
For managed file access and backups, see SCP:SL server hosting. Keep staff permissions separate with the Remote Admin roles guide.
