Sons of the Forest Part 2: Expansion Fact Check
There is no official basis for the commonly copied “Part 2” guide that describes a Version 1.1 story expansion called “The Second Artifact,” Holo-Keys, Bunker-Cities, a Third Island, or a Sub-Guardian boss. Those names are not documented in the current Endnight dedicated-server guide or the official Steam announcement feed.
What to trust
Check the official Steam news feed for a release announcement and the Steam store page for the game's supported platform and release information. A blog or server template cannot turn a rumour into a game feature.
Claims that should not be copied into a server
| Claim | Why it is unsafe |
|---|---|
| “EnablePart2” or “SecondCubeEnabled” | Not a documented key in dedicatedserver.cfg. |
| Holo-Key, Arctic Pickaxe, or Bunker-City coordinates | Not verified by an official release note or dedicated-server reference. |
| “ServerPerformanceMode,” RCON commands, or 32-player events | Not part of the documented SOTF server configuration; the official player maximum is 8. |
| “Version 1.1” as a named story expansion | Do not confuse a community label or unrelated post with an Endnight release. |
How to verify a real expansion
- Find an Endnight-authored announcement for app
1326470or its dedicated-server app. - Check that the post names the build, release date, and any server update procedure.
- Update a copied world first and inspect the generated server configuration.
- Only publish new gameplay or admin instructions after the feature is reproducible in the released build.
For server owners today
Use the real dedicated-server setup and JSON configuration reference. Back up the SonsOfTheForestDS user-data directory before updates, keep client and server builds compatible, and do not add unknown JSON keys in the hope of unlocking content.
