Is V Rising Cross-Platform? Crossplay Status (2026)
Short answer: no, V Rising does not support crossplay between PC and PlayStation 5. Stunlock Studios shipped V Rising 1.0 on PC in 2024, then brought it to PlayStation 5 separately. The two platforms run on independent server pools — a PC player cannot join a PS5 server, and a PS5 player cannot join a PC dedicated server. Xbox is not yet announced.
The current state
PC ↔ PC: full multiplayer, modding, dedicated servers all work.
PS5 ↔ PS5: works.
PC ↔ PS5: not supported.
Why no crossplay
Stunlock has not committed publicly to bridging PC and PS5. The PC version's modding ecosystem and patch cadence are different from console certification, making sync hard.
What about Xbox
No confirmed Xbox release for V Rising as of 2026. Stunlock has been focused on PS5 launch + ongoing PC content updates.
Platform Compatibility Matrix

What Works Within Each Platform
PC (Steam)
- Full multiplayer up to dedicated-server max player count (configurable, typically 10–40 depending on host).
- Modding via Thunderstore / V Rising Mod Manager — wide active community.
- Self-hosted dedicated servers via SteamCMD (app ID 1829350 for the dedicated server, 1604030 for the game).
- Stunlock-hosted "Brutal" official servers and PvP/PvE community-curated servers.
PlayStation 5
- Multiplayer between PS5 players: yes, up to the per-server cap Stunlock allows.
- Modding: not available on PS5 — vanilla content only.
- Dedicated servers: PC-hosted dedicated servers do not accept PS5 clients (different protocol auth).
- PSN account required.
Cross-Save? (Separate Question)
People conflate cross-PLAY (real-time multiplayer across platforms) with cross-SAVE (carrying your character/world from one platform to another). On V Rising:
- PC ↔ PC cross-save: Steam Cloud syncs PC saves between machines, no manual work needed.
- PC ↔ PS5 cross-save: Not supported. Sony's storefront rules restrict pulling save data off PSN. Stunlock has not built a unified save backend.
- PS5 cloud save: PlayStation Plus members can sync PS5 saves to PSN cloud, but only between PS5 consoles.
Workarounds for Mixed Groups
If your friend group is split between PC and PS5, the practical paths in 2026:
- Everyone buys on PC. The cheapest workaround long-term: V Rising goes on Steam sale frequently (40–60% off). PS5 player buys it on PC and runs through Steam Remote Play, GeForce NOW, or just plays on PC.
- Cloud streaming PC version on console. GeForce NOW works for V Rising; the PS5 player streams the PC version and joins your PC dedicated server. Adds latency but works.
- Wait for Stunlock's call. V Rising's roadmap (see V Rising 2026 Roadmap) does not currently list crossplay as a confirmed feature. Don't plan around it.
Hosting a V Rising Server
If your group is on PC, dedicated hosting is the standard path for stable multiplayer. Stunlock provides an official dedicated server build, and the PC modding scene runs almost exclusively on dedicated servers rather than peer-to-peer.
