StarRupture Roadmap 2026: Early Access, Update 1, and the Road to 1.0

StarRupture is in Early Access and shipping on a visible monthly rhythm: a large Update 1, a run of hotfixes, and a developer blog every month describing what is being built next. Here is the confirmed picture.

Last updated 21 October 2026. Every date below is from the studio’s own posts; nothing here is inferred.

The short version: StarRupture is in Early Access, currently on the 0.3.x line. Update 2: Quality of Life shipped on 2 September 2026 with the base-building improvements the August blog previewed, followed by hotfixes on 4, 14 and 17 September and 5 October (0.3.5, the current version). Update 1 before it laid the groundwork the studio describes as necessary for 1.0. Monthly developer blogs preview what is coming: the October blog previewed Update 3 and announced that Creepy Jar is ending active support for dedicated servers, which stay on version 0.3.5 once Update 3 ships. No date has been announced for Update 3 or for 1.0.

Where the game stands

Update 1 is the reference point. The studio described it as packed with new content, mechanics and in-game changes needed to expand the game toward the 1.0 release, and has been iterating with smaller hotfixes since. Recent examples give the shape of that work:

  • Hotfix 0.2.7 (11 June) fixed a crash when deconstructing buildings, and a multiplayer issue where dialogue was skipped for the client when the host was far away
  • Hotfix 0.2.8 (17 June) fixed a crash on exit affecting NVIDIA RTX 40 and 50 series GPUs

A crash-report tool with a response window was also added, aimed at faster self-troubleshooting.

What the August 2026 blog previewed

The current development focus is construction quality of life, which matters on shared servers where several players build in the same space:

  • Add Pillars in Building Mode: automatically adds pillars to buildings placed at any height, and can be toggled off for a more open base when stability allows
  • Automatic pillar height adjustment: pillars adapt to the platforms above them

These are previews from a developer blog, not shipped patch notes. Treat them as direction until they appear in a version.

Update, 7 October 2026: they appeared. Update 2: Quality of Life (2 September 2026) shipped the pillar changes, and Hotfix 0.3.4 (17 September) then fixed a slow first load of saves with many pillars, so a base built on the new pillars may take longer to load once after updating. Hotfix 0.3.5 (5 October) is the current version.

What the October 2026 blog previewed: Update 3

The October developer blog (20 October 2026) is a first look at Update 3, the next update. Its headline is more than 20 new settings for playing StarRupture by your own rules. The blog’s examples:

  • Building stability: switched off, it lets you build without stability limits, as long as the structure connects to other structures or terrain
  • Passive enemies: hostile creatures leave players and buildings alone unless provoked
  • Fire wave frequency: changes the interval between Ruptura’s eruptions
  • Survival stats depletion rate: how fast hydration and nutrition run down
  • Starting corporations level: start a new game at any corporation level

No release date was given. Like August’s preview, treat this as direction until the patch notes arrive.

Dedicated servers stop at version 0.3.5

The same blog ends active support for dedicated servers. They launched with Early Access as an experimental feature, and Creepy Jar now wants to focus on single-player and co-op (listen server) play. After Update 3 is released, version 0.3.5, the last version that still supports dedicated servers, stays available on a separate Steam branch for anyone who wants to keep playing on one. That version gets no further updates, so Update 3 and anything after it will not reach dedicated servers.

For a group on a dedicated server, Update 3 is therefore a decision rather than a patch day: stay on 0.3.5, with every player switching their game to that branch, or play the new content in co-op. Creepy Jar has not said whether a world saved on Update 3 can be loaded by 0.3.5, so keep a backup made on 0.3.5 before anyone updates.

What server admins should plan for

An Early Access factory game on a monthly hotfix cadence has predictable operational needs:

  • Back up before every update. Base-building changes are exactly the class of change that interacts with saved structures.
  • Expect version matching. Clients and server need to be on the same build; plan a short window after each hotfix.
  • Watch the blogs, not the rumours. The studio publishes a developer blog monthly on Steam. That is where the roadmap actually is.

What is not confirmed

There is no announced date for Update 3 or 1.0, no published content calendar beyond the current blog previews, and no stated server-hardware change. Anything you read describing a specific StarRupture release schedule is not coming from the studio’s own posts.

Running one? StarRupture server hosting from Supercraft gives you the current build, automatic backups, and a console for the config changes described above.

Bottom line

StarRupture is mid-Early-Access with an honest, visible cadence: monthly blogs, frequent hotfixes, and an explicit path toward 1.0 without a date attached. For server owners that has meant routine discipline, not big-bang planning, until Update 3: dedicated servers stay on 0.3.5, so a group on one has to choose between that version and co-op on the new one.
